Equipping the Saints
Elders and Administration Team Leaders
This
month, the visionary board of Elders has met many times and begun
the work of setting the guidelines for the church’s mission. The
church’s elders are Jay Dozier, Russell Long, Corbin Shepherd,
Annette Jones and Bobby Zirkel. Each person brings a unique set of
gifts to the table. We are united in vision by two things: Jesus’
commands to love God and neighbor and to make disciples of all
nations. First Christian Church exists to follow Jesus’ commands.
The elders exist to make sure that this is happening.
The
administration team has also met and is working on the stewardship
and finance of the church - which at mid-year is very healthy!
Patricia Hilmers, Frank Thomason, George Montgomery, Joe McKay, Kim
Lee and Dick Yeomans are on the administrative team. They have
already set two priorities beyond the day to day finances of the
church: 1) landscaping and building maintenance and 2) acoustic
design of the worship space. The sound system and the technology
are fine, the cement box and flat walls are the problem with the
sound in the room. So they are going to do something about it. Get
‘er done, friends!
The
discipleship and spiritual care teams are my first priority for
July. While they are functional right now, my job this month will
to be to train them on the parameters of their work. The
discipleship team will assist people in starting and continuing the
mission of the church. The spiritual care teams will oversee the
worship and community aspects of church. Look for an update next
month.
Pam
Bentler Retires
Our
part-time secretary Pam Bentler (she came to us as Pam Secor) is
retiring. She plans to travel with her husband Jim. Her last day
is July 12. Pam is a constant joy in the office. From talking
about fishing to good eating habits for children, Pam always makes
me happy to enter the church office. I am going to miss her, as
will the entire staff. Good Luck Pam and drop by to see us when you
come through town!
We will be
posting a job description and anyone who is interested can apply for
the job.

Romans in the Pastor's Bible Study.
Come--the room is filled with good people studying the good word.
All classes meet in the
choir room at 6:00 on Wednesdays.
